| We
were in Matamoros, Mexico a couple of weeks ago again.
We were asked by AIM to come alongside the Matamoros
FYM (First Year Missionary) team – which is to
the right, to help this team through a transition. AIM’s
FYM programs run concurrently with a school year –
from September to mid May. A FYM team has a daily worship
and a daily Bible study time. The Matamoros FYM team
regularly visits nearby ‘colonias’, a hospital
and a jail. Besides the FYM team in Matamoros, AIM has
FYM teams this year in Jeffreys Bay in South Africa,
in Swaziland, in the Dominican Republic and in Ireland.

We
stayed at the Gateway’s guest house –
which is to the left, the eleven days that we spent
in Mexico. The Gateway is an AIM property that is
located between the Harlingen boarder crossing and
Matamoros. Many of AIM’s STM (Short Term Mission)
teams stage out of the Gateway. There are enough
beds at the Gateway to sleep over 300 STM participants.
The Gateway also has a large eating area which is
where we ate most of our meals.
While
we were at the Gateway, a St. Catharines, Ontario

Ontario
STM team was also staying there. The Matamoros FYM
team was asked to partner with the St. Catharines
STM team through worshipping with them, through working
alongside them on some work projects at the Gateway
and by going with them to their ministry sites. Much
of our time was spent with the Matamoros FYM team
leader. As Naomi has become a very good friend over
the past year, we felt very blessed to be asked to
help her. |
| The
September 2007 World Race squad – which is to
the right, is still in Africa. The four teams are
widely separated. They are now at ministry sites in
Swaziland, in Mozambique and in South Africa. The
teams have or have had AIM staff who are living in
Africa coming alongside them. After another month
or so in Africa, the September 2007 World Race squad
is scheduled to fly to Central America – where
they will spend the last three months of their ‘race’.
Once the September 2007 World Race is in Central America,
we are hoping to be able to spend a couple of weeks
with each of the four teams at their different ministry
sites.

The
experiences while on a World Race have resulted in transformed
lives for a good number of those who have already gone on
a World Race. We are very grateful for the opportunity that
has been given to us by AIM to be the coaches for the September
2007 World Race squad.
Thank you again for your prayers and for your kindness.
We are very thankful for the opportunities that we have
had this past year to be resources for young people who
desire a closer relationship or a renewed walk with their
Father God.
Sincerely,
Gary
and Nancy Lengkeek
